The opening stage of the 101st edition of the Tour will get underway on Saturday July 5 in front of Leeds Town Hall before travelling 190-kilometres towards Harrogate.
Along the route riders will cross the Yorkshire Dales National Park in the Pennines, before reaching Harrogate, where the first maillot jaune of 2014 will be handed out.
The following day will see the peloton depart from York ahead of a tough 200km ride to Sheffield. With the parcours, in places, resembling the lumpy terrain of Liège-Bastogne-Liège donm’t be surprised to see a tough puncheur such as Phillipe Gilbert or Edvald Boasson hagen prevail.
Stage three: Cambridge – Epping Forest – the Olympic Park – the Mall.
